25 years bridging design and engineering, from early wireframes through production code. Worked with PacSun, Citigroup, JibJab, O'Neill, and dozens of startups. Today building Athletic Universe and integrating AI into every workflow.
I do something most people choose between: I design and I build. Not 'design with some coding on the side.' Not 'developer who does a little UX.' Both, fully from early user research and wireframes through to production front-end code.
That combination means I can move faster, communicate better across teams, and ship products that actually feel the way they were intended to feel.
Beyond the work, I serve as 1st Vice President of the Long Beach Japanese Cultural Center, an organization with deep meaning to me and my family's history. I coach youth and high school soccer. I'm involved with the Long Beach Judo Dojo. And I'm a dad to three daughters. Those experiences have shaped me into a better collaborator, communicator, and leader than any job title ever could.
My elders endured being incarcerated during WWII at Amache, Colorado. That history drives me to serve my community, preserve our stories, and build things that matter, not just things that ship.
I've spent decades in rooms with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders, and I speak all three languages fluently. I prototype fast, ask the right questions early, and would rather ship something real and iterate than wait for perfect. Open to full-time roles in product design, UI engineering, or both, and always available for the right consulting project.
